KimBits

Welcome to my blog

KimBits

KimBits

First of all, just to clarify, yes I’m a Tim-aholic (and thus KimBits). If you’re Canadian, you’ll be very familiar with this Canadian coffee and donut icon. Oddly enough, I hate the taste of coffee. But I love my large triple-triple’s (aka coffee with three creams and three sugars) each and every morning. I tried to quit once but there was an intervention at work after a two week abstinence from my beloved morning wake-me-up.

Personal musings

This website is my attempt at bringing all my online presences into one place. Apparently getting scattered across the web is what happens when you don’t know what you want to be when you grow up. And I needed a place I could muse about interesting things not covered on my other sites. I have lots and lots of interests, a few I’m really passionate about, and am easily distracted by shiny objects.

So here on KimBits, I’m going to blog about things that catch my fancy. It’ll probably include dogs, saving animals, travelling, positive deviance, my heritage, and Norse mythology to note just a few. And lists – I love lists. To be honest, I’m not really sure what I’m going to blog about but I hope you have fun getting to know me.

My blogging manifesto

Because I can be distracted by shiny objects, and I do love lists, I thought it would be a good idea to create a manifesto that I can refer back to when I get too far off the beaten path. Here it goes:

  • I’ll blog like I live my life. Full of passion, a little obsessive, and always learning.
  • I am not perfect. And so far it has not ended the world.
  • Own up to it. Be accountable if you make a mistake. Fix it and leave edit notes when applicable.
  • I’ll post whenever I feel like posting. But I won’t post for the sake of posting.
  • I want to be a part of a great community, full of interesting and fun people.
  • It’s ok to not have anything to say. I welcome comments and will do my best to respond, but I might not always have something to say in return. This doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate what was said, or that someone took the time to comment.
  • I have a life outside of blogging.
  • I will not allow blogging to become a burden. And if I begin to feel like blogging is becoming a burden, I will take a breather and reevaluate.
  • When blogging becomes a chore, I’ll quit doing it.
  • And as I grow and learn more about myself, I’ll update this manifesto accordingly.

Commenting policy

This site is a positive place to hang out. I detest spam and disrespectful behavior. So if you’re going there, you better check out my comment policy first.

That’s a wrap

I do hope you’ll find value in this site and blog. I can’t promise how often I’ll blog, but I’ll do my best to post on a regular basis. I’m really looking forward to connecting with you!
