Fireside Grill
Originally built as an English-style tea room in 1939, Fireside Grill has also been an after-hours dance room, home, artists gallery/museum, before becoming the Fireside Grill in 2000. Situated on a hill among gardens and rolling fields, the Tudor inspired design features an open hall and oozes historical ambience. On Sundays, a gorgeous buffet brunch is served.

Best breakfast – restaurant review
Restaurant Name: Fireside Grill, Victoria, BC.
Group: 3, had reservations, arrived 11:00 on May 10, 2015.
Eggs benny: Eggs (medium), hollandaise (not enough, tasty), ham – possibly back bacon (tasty), english muffin (soft and slightly chewy). Because it’s a buffet, the bennies are in a covered warming tray causing the eggs to be cooked more than I would like and takes away the toastiness of the muffin. Overall it was ok but I would be disappointed if that was all I was getting.
Other items ordered: The buffet menu is fairly standard each week. This week we tried sausage, bacon, hash browns, waffles, cheese, herb bun, paella, shrimp, mussels, meatballs, beef roast, fruit, passion fruit cake, and vanilla and orange brule. Everything was good. A few dishes weren’t as hot as they could’ve been. Standouts were the sausage, shrimp, meatballs, roast, and desserts. The mussels were cooked in something that I couldn’t quite identify, almost vinegary – not awful, but not my favourite flavour.
Average price/person: $27.99 ($34.99 today because it was Mother’s Day)
Pros: Considering that it was Mother’s Day, we didn’t feel rushed or crowded. Reservations are recommended, but on an average weekend, you should be able to get in without too long of a wait. Great selection of food and the quality is above average. They kept trays and platters well topped up. Juice and coffee are included in the price. Our server was attentive and came by frequently to clear off dishes and top up coffee.
Cons: The buffet area is very compact and tight. The flow of traffic doesn’t always move as fast as it should.
Overall: The food and service was good and coffee very good. The ambience is wonderful. On a warm day I would want to sit on the patio which is surrounded by lush plantings.
